UFO: Enemy Unknown Collector's Edition

I suggest you download this game now to experience a great alien adventure game.


UFO: The Card Game

UFO is a nice unofficial clone of "UNO" card game marketed by Mattel that was popular in the early 1990s and still retains a sizable following as one of the best "family" card games. ... the hand is over. Points are scored and you start over again. This PC version of UNO game by NecroBones is a lot of fun, and much better than the few Windows 95/98 versions I came across years later.


Ultimate Cards

Ultimate Cards is a decent card game from Magicode/Micro League that offers the usual array of multiplayer card games, including Spades, Hearts, Gin Rummy, Oh Hell!, Whilst, and Crazy 8's. The game offers ... playing. It's a shame, but if you don't care much about production values, give this game a look. At least it has Whilst and Oh Hell!, a couple of fun card games that not many other card games offer.


UMS (a.k.a. Universal Military Simulator)

A poor man's Empire, UMS is a very ambitious abstract wargame that attracts a minor following among hardcore wargamers, but fails in the bigger market. M. Evan Brooks sums it up in his synopsis: "A ... easy to use, with full controls over terrain features and unit placement. Overall, UMS may not top any wargamer's must-play list, but it is an ambitious, broad tactical wargame that is worth a look.


UMS II: Nations at War

A superior sequel to Rainbird's Ultimate Military Simulator (UMS), UMS II: Nations at War features improved campaign mode, and much more control over units. Veteran wargamer M. Evan Brooks defends the ... that it did not destroy one's hard drive and had some interesting design concepts." Definitely worth a look from hard-core wargamers, although noone should expect it to be another Empire.


Under Fire

"A tactical simulation of World War II infantry and armor; it was open-ended with a versatile map maker and scenario builder." Better than AH's previous efforts, but can't hold water to to Gary Grigsby's early games that SSI published.


Uncharted Waters 1

Uncharted Waters is the most un-KOEI game ever made by KOEI, perhaps because it is the only series not designed by Kou Shibusawa, the prolific founder of KOEI. Based on the high-seas adventure period in ... amass fortune while coping with pirates and fickle mayors. In Uncharted Waters 2 you can choose to play as one of the characters, each with different goals and purposes. Interesting, but slow-paced.


Uncharted Waters 2

Review 1: This is basically a trading game in the 16th century, and a good one! The game is quite extended and has many options in it. There are a lot of ports in the game and in most of those you can ... game highly replayable and adds refreshing RPG and adventure elements to the strategic game. If you love Sid Meier's classic Pirates! but want something a little different, this is the game for you.

Unnatural Selection

An overlooked gem, Maxis implemented the intriguing "genetic engineering" AI in this game long before Tamagotchi and Creatures caught the public's imagination :) A defected scientist has turned ... island. Cool animations, and an excellent "experiment" mode. Pretty steep learning curve, although trial-and-error in free experiment mode should reveal what the commands do. Recommended.


Uprising

Uprising is a very fun and highly underrated real-time strategy game that offers many innovations that are sadly overlooked. Utopia

Review 1: Now this is a masterpiece! As one of Atari's best games, Utopia puts you in charge of a space colony and it is up to you to defend it from the enemy attacks and in the same time - expand and ... I wouldn't rate this game as anything other than mildly entertaining, replayable enough to keep you intrested, even if the main reason for re-playing it is to learn about the other alien cultures ;)

V for Victory: Velikye Luki

Vantage Master Online

Vantage Master Online is a fun fantasy wargame from Japan's Falcom. Like Lord Monarch before it, VMO is a freeware Windows release of Falcom's console title that was reasonably popular in Japan. Best described ... General too difficult may find this game more fun, although wargame veterans will be disappointed at how easy it is, and how much more simplistic the mechanics are compared to Master of Magic.


Vegas Bandit

Vegas Bandit is a decent slot machine simulation. The game is very simple: you start the game with 100 coins, and can bet 1 to 3 coins each time. After betting, click on the handle to pull it down, and ... to games like Arcade Fruit Machine, Vegas Bandit pales by comparison in terms of graphics and play options. Well, at least it does look very similar to what Las Vegas slots actually look like.


Vegas Casino 2

Vegas Casino 2 is a craps and roulette simulation written by Tarheel Technologies and distributed by Mastertronic. Although the 'prequel' Vegas Casino was billed as "The Ultimate Gambling Compendium ... Although it won't turn heads, this little game packs enough options and helpful features to satisfy roulette and craps players for a while. Too bad it is not a more full-fledged casino package.


Viking Siege

Viking Siege is a great DOS version of hnefa-tafl (literally "King's table"), a great Scandinavian board game that was immensely popular across northern Europe in the dark ages. The game is similar ... human player if you wish, although no Internet play is supported. If you enjoy chess and other challenging abstract board games, this rendition of hnefa-tafl is one you'll keep coming back for more.


Vikings: Fields of Conquest

As a re-release of Kingdoms of England, released only for the Amiga, Vikings: Fields of Conquest improves upon the Amiga version with better AI and enhancements for the PC market. The core of the game ... only with a less interesting geography. The game system was also planned to accommodate future expansions, but unfortunately it failed to attract enough public attention to warrant their releases.


Vikings: The Strategy of Ultimate Conquest

Vikings is a fun but little-known adventure/strategy hybrid that was originally released for Windows 3.1, although it runs fine in Windows 95/98 with 256 colors. In this unique game, you play the chief ... and the duels, are great, but when combined together and the controls learned, you have a good and fun game here. Recommended for all gamers interested in this period and/or want a good challenge.


Virtual Chess for Windows

One of the most underrated chess games ever made, Titus' Virtual Chess for Windows is a fun chess game that offers multiple skill levels, although the game's strenght lies in excellent tutorial options ... it will appeal to any chess novice who does not need cartoony graphics to learn the ropes. This game also deserves mention as the first PC chess games that were ported to Nintendo 64 console system.


Virtual Plateau

Virtual Plateau is a great freeware PC version of Plateau, a fun and unique board game designed by Jim Albea. The object of this interesting game is to either make a stack of pieces six tall, or capture ... although it unfortunately can challenge only beginners to the game. If you like Chess, Mastermind, or thought-provoking board games in general, Virtual Plateau is a great addition to your collection.


Volcano

Volcano is a very fun and unique real-time "god game." You play a god who could be benevolent (Gaia) or malicious (Thanatos); who either prevent villagers from deadly lava that is flowing from ... being a good or evil god is a great feature that should be present in more games. The game includes 20 basic levels, plus a great random map mode to ensure that no two games will ever be alike.


Vulcan

R.T. Smith, the creator and programmer for the fabulous game Encyclopedia of War: Ancient Battles, created a trio of World War Two games a few year earlier for the Spectrum computer that were later converted ... must give Desert Rats a try.
