V2000

V2000 is a commercially underrated sequel to Virus, David Braben's innovative 3D action game released in 1988. Developed and released 10 years after Virus, V2000 received favorable reviews in game magazines ... will probably prove too frustrating to be fun. If you consider yourself a hard-core master of 'twitch' games, though, V2000 is a blast to play. Highly recommended, with caveats for beginner players.

VajraVanish

The first difficulty in VajraVanish is... finding the shot and bomb buttons. After some tries, I found them: Backspace and Gray Ins respectively. While such controls are quite uncommon, I must admit that ... won't last forever, but the high difficulty, along with the time limit, ensures that you won't finish it in a few tries. Recommended as a quick diversion from Tyrian 2000 or Darius Gaiden.

Valkyrie Fight

Valkyrie Fight and its sequel Valkyrie Fight Tag are two superb and highly underrated 2D fighting games based on Tri-Ace's popular Valkyrie Profile series on the PSX and PS2. VF and VFT are "Doujinshi" ... only in Japan by amaginZ, the developer is now defunct, pushing the games into 'abandonware' status before its time. If you like 2D fighting games, you will definitely enjoy this rare game duo.

Valkyrie: The Magical Odyssey

The last game by independent French developer Chili Con Valley (C2V for short) before going out of business, Valkyrie - The Magical Odyssey is an excellent shareware platformer that boasts huge and varied ... None of these nitpicks should prevent you from enjoying the game, however. If you love platformers, you will love this unfortunately obscure and out of print shareware game. Highly recommended!

Vampire

Vampire is a great fanmade Castlevania-inspired game from Sprite, one of Japan's oldest freeware developers. The game plays remarkably similar to Konami's classic, except you now control a heroine. Armed ... is much better than most others of its ilk. Too bad the action is over a bit too soon, and the "boss" monsters are somewhat uninspired and predictable. Recommended for all Castlevania fans.

Vaxine

Review 1: Sometimes the game-programmers really demand a lot of imagination - who would think of a human body and virii looking at this game? In Vaxine you are the last line of defense protecting important ... unrewarding. If you fancy yourself a joystick god who's beaten every action game ever made, give Vaxine a try. Otherwise, steer clear of this and play something more manageable, such as Alpha Waves

Vectorball

Novel 2-player ballgame that's a lot like Marble Madness in look and feel, although much inferior to that classic due to unintuitive controls and lack of friction that made Marble Madness fun. The addition of multiplayer mode is just about the only thing that might appeal to arcade jocks, although everyone is advised to pass this one buy and play the original classic instead.

Velcro Mind

Review 1: Velcro Mind is a fun and unique little freeware game that plays like a classic game of "Simon" crossed with the Mac classic Crystal Quest. Your goal is to move the multicolored "Velcro ... on the right spot of your roundcolored object. You can 'magnetic' attach the balls. When you go with those ball over the correct hands he will grab the colored ball so you can catch a nother one.

Video Casino

A good collection of casino games that's easy to play despite limited choices, Video Casino nevertheless offers solid and reasonably authentic depiction of video poker, video 21, and blackjack machines found in most casinos. What more could a gambler want?

Vigilante

Vigilante is a superb remake of IREM's 1988 arcade game of the same name that does what all remakes should do: enhances the gameplay while maintaining the same 'feel' and atmosphere of playing the original. ... over the whole game). Overall, if you spent countless quarters on the original, this remake is a must-have. If you have never played the original but love beat 'em ups, this is also a must-have.

Vinyl Goddess from Mars

The plot is simple: you're Vinyl, the mars goddess who are supposed to attend the B-movie convention, but your spaceship is caught in a meteor shower.. and so you ended up stranded in an unknown planet ... shines in the level design. Overall, Vinyl is a decent PC platformer. (Err.. don't you ever hope for a console quality platformer in PC :P) If you loves platform games, I highly recommend this one.

Violent Fighter

A very, very poorly done fighting game indeed. Besides having a cheap name, Violent Fighter has terribly small graphics, plain characters with simple attacks, and jumpy graphics. I was very upset to discover ... a single thing I liked about this game except for its title screen, which looks semi-decent. I do not recommend this game at all, unless you're a collector of rarities. It's really not worth a try.

Violent Myth

Violent Myth is a lackluster 2D fighting game that botches the very interesting premise by poor execution. Although it looks and feels similar to Panda Software's famous Sango Fighter, the game is not ... compared to Panda's games or the likes of CAPCOM's classics. Overall, Violent Myth is worth a look, but only if you are interested in Chinese myths or games from Chinese houses other than Panda.

Virtua Cop (a.k.a. Virtua Squad)

Virtua Cop is a decent PC conversion of a hit arcade game of the same name by SEGA. Your objective in this 3D shooting gallery is simple: as a cop, move through various areas of a city, eliminating any ... of the arcade hit, although it is rather short, and too easy if you play with a mouse. Recommended, but check out the much better sequel Virtua Cop 2 for a longer and more rewarding shooting gallery.

Virtual In

Virtual In is a fun little one-on-one fighting game that will surprise you with superb playability despite its small size. The title is a parody of popular fighting game Virtual On, and the game itself ... out the right order of keys to press. With smooth controls, a decent array of weapons, and fun gameplay, Virtual In is a fun little coffee break game that is well worth your time. Highly recommended!

Virtual In 2

Virtual In 2 is a great sequel to Virtual In, a fun one-on-one robot fighting game from Japan. If you hate the first game or "cute" stumpy-head Japanese games, there is no reason to try this ... right order of keys to press. With smooth controls, a decent array of weapons, and fun gameplay, Virtual In is a fun little coffee break game that is well worth your time. Highly recommended!"

Virtual On Cybertroopers (Virtual On Operation Moongate)

Virtual On Cybertroopers (which I will now refer to as VOOM, as it's sometimes called Virtual On: Operation Moongate) was developed by SEGA's Am3 team (now known as Hitmaker ...an appropriate name, if ... Saturn version, but it's a good port none the less. The game's sequel, Virtual On: Oratorio Tangram, happens to be my most favorite game in existence, and is a worthy successor to VOOM in every way.

Virtuoso

3D shooters of the old kind were known for having somewhat constructed game stories. But this one beats them all. Obviously Motivetime thought: "Let's make a 3D shooter with a rock'n roll hero and ... effects. This is the floppy version of the game that doesn't include the terrible CD music tracks. This game is not cracked, so be sure to get the near complete copy protection answers list below.

Virus

This game is the perfect answer to the question: what happens when you lock the designer of Eliteseries and future designer of Transport Tycoon in the same room? Virus is a furious and addictive action ... Be warned, though: the game i is very difficult. Don't expect to finish the game unless you are very confident of your reflexes ;) Also, check out the superior 1998 sequel V2000, also on this site.

Virus: The Game

Virus: The Game is a classic example of great idea gone to waste by horrendous execution. Games Domain's uncompromising review of this unique old game says it all: "Virus is a strategy game, well ... this game as it really was a virus: Avoid it." Ouch. Terrible gameplay in every aspects - and Inner Space has done the computer-virus-invasion concept before, and better. Avoid at all costs.

Viz

Viz is a funny, politically incorrect action game based on a popular British magazine of the same name. For the uninitiated, Viz is produced in Newcastle upon Tyne, England. According to the official website, ... farting, and various disgusting objects. It's certainly a different, "cult" game that all Monty Python fans, and fans of British humor in general, will likely enjoy for a short while.

Vlak

Vlak is a great clone of the classic game Worm that you can see on almost every cell phone under games. The original worms was one of the most simple games ever made but still managed to pull a crowd and ... you might drive into something - a bit annoying when you are just about to complete a very difficult level. Overall a nice game that offers an easy beginning so you can get familiar with the game.

Volfied

Review 1: Good conversion of Taito's popular arcade game of the same name. The PC version adds many bonuses and extras to the original from the early 80's. The game is very similar to an early game called ... viewed game you play the same game as Styx. You have to draw rectangulars on the screen in order to segment off parts of the screen. When you've got around 80% of the field, you go to the next level.

Vsys Gaiden (a.k.a. Techno Sylph)

Vsys Gaiden is a fun and very pretty vertical shooter from Japan. The idea is simple: shoot everything in sight to progress to the next level. Ray-traced graphics, good sound effects and music, and excellent ... with similar or slower system may experience the same problem. If you have a more powerful machine, though, expect to have a lot of fun with this very good looking freeware. Highly recommended!

V-Wing

Review 1: V-wing is a funny little multiplayer flight shooter game. Please note that this game can only be played in multiplayer mode and it isn't possible to play against the computer at all. You can ... own levels in which to blast friends. If you enjoy cavefliers or shoot 'em ups in general, V-Wing is definitely well worth your time. This download is v1.91 registered, which includes gun terrets.
