B-1 Nuclear Bomber

One of Avalon Hill's earliest games for the PC, B-1 Nuclear Bomber is a simplistic wargame that lets you fly a B-1 bomber on a mission over the Soviet Union. You must fly through stiff Russian defenses ... play mechanics were embarrassing when it was initially released. A virtual X-Y axis game of nuclear "bombs bursting in air"." Worth a look only if you are a nostalgic wargaming fan.

Backgammon (ShareData)

Backgammon, Poker, and Blackjack are very early PC versions of popular parlor/casino games, published by ShareData in the mid-80s. There is not much I can say about these games, except that they are pretty ... Poker is probably the best game of this bunch, but that is not saying much either. Worth a look as early pioneers of PC gaming history, but not recommended to anyone who actually want to play them.

The comprehensive hint and on-line help make this a better game than Jellyfish to introduce first-time players to this wonderful parlor game that more people should know about.

Bandit Kings of Ancient China

Review 1: One of the best Hardcore-Strategy-Games I ever came across. It somehow reminds me of a Heroes of Might & Magic set in ancient China (of course it was made before HoMM). You can hire heroes ... start out in exile and must fight many stronger opponents. Personnel management and resource allocation, therefore, become much more important here. A good game, if little differentiated from RTK.

Battalia

Battalia is the most recent game designed by Dr. Peter Turcan, a passionate historical wargamer who pioneered the use of realistic 3D terrain and real-time gameplay in computer wargames in the early 1990s. ... an eminently satisfying experience. The non-grognard though will in all likelihood have neither the time nor inclination to put in the necessary work needed to get the most out of this game."

Battle Bugs

Review 1: Dynamix entered the wargaming arena with this surprising gem, sporting off-the-wall humor and original premise: as commander of an army of ants and other insects, lead your troops to victory ... SimAnt. Review 2: Nice little strategy wargame. You play different missions with your military ants. Very good graphics and sounds. Fun to play. The missions will get tougher further in the game.

Battle Commander

Battle Commander is an above-average real-time strategy game from Korea that looks and plays very similar to Command & Conquer, down to graphical style of buildings and even the menus. Like Westwood's ... & Conquer, but everyone else would be well advised to play the real Westwood classics instead (and for the record, I think Dune 2 is far superior to Command & Conquer and its sequels).

Battle For Atlantis

A Risk-type game. The gamename sounds very good, the game itself isn't. The building of the screen takes ages. So does the game.

Battle for Midway (a.k.a. Midway Campaign)

One of the oldest naval wargames ever made, Avalon Hill's Battle for Midway (a.k.a. Midway Campaign) is a very primitive ASCII wargame written entirely in BASIC that simulates the battle of Midway Island ... of the first Midway computer versions. That is to say: ASCII characters, ... as a pioneer in the then-budding field of computer wargames, a field dominated clearly by SSI in the early 1980s. For a 1982 BASIC game, Battle of Normandy is not bad at all despite its limitations.

Battle Chess 2: Chinese Chess

Too bad many people are discouraged to play this game because they think Chinese Chess is either not interesting or too difficult to learn. Nothing can be further from the truth! Chinese Chess is easy ... Chinese Chess system, animating Chinese soldiers with style and humor. With the tremendous task of memorizing Chinese characters removed, now you have no excuse for not trying this one out.

You start the game by adjusting what the game should run like as game colors, screen resolution etc. which is rather ... of either the north or the south in one of the bloodiest battles in the American Civil War. It's a classic wargame with lots of units to command. Recommended for the most hardcore wargamers only.

Recommended only for those who want a complete QQP collection :)

The Big Three is a grand strategic-level wargame set in World War II that covers the entire Europe, Northern Africa, and Eastern Russia. You can play as one of the "Big Three" (US, UK, or Russia) ... Blind Wars

Conquer continents. Looks very risk like, but this game is very slow and not well made.

Blitzkrieg: Battle at The Ardennes

A conversion of the board game of the same name, this simulation of Battle of the Bulge had a confusing interface and lengthy game mechanics. Although it's a faithful conversion, the awkward user interface ... the manual is poorly written. Overall, a disappointing wargame that could have been much more, had the designers focus less on faithfully recreating the complex boardgame and more on playability.

Blue and The Gray, The

Probably one of the worst Civil War games ever made, M. Evan Brooks sums it up well in his synopsis of this ambitious wargame from Impressions: "[The Blue and The Gray depicts] the American Civil ... For strategy gamers and space enthusiasts alike, this is a keeper.

By Fire and Sword

A semi-historical abstraction of medieval warfare, this game lived down to Avalon Hill's early standards in computer gaming. Certainly not the best depiction of medieval times. Those interested in the topic should play either SSI's Medieval Lords or AH's own Kingmaker instead.
