Kick Off 2

Review 1: I think I must have played Kick Off 2 5 hours a day for several months when I played the game the most. The ball, as in the real game, travels ahead of the player thus making a tackle is a matter of skill rather than of chance.

Kick Off 3: European Challenge

Review 1: The legendary Kick Off series goes on! The first KO game that was NOT made by Dino Dini, the legendary creator of the most famous football game ever made for Amiga, is still great, maybe even ... gameplay as Kick Off 2, Dino Dini pulled off another masterpiece with Kick Off 3. Whether you are an arcade-oriented fan, or diehard armchair manager, you'll have plenty to like in Kick Off 3.

Kick Off 97

Kick Off '97 is a disappointing entry in Anco's solid Kick Off line - a good example of how bad a game can get without a good designer at the helm (in this case: Dino Dini, the creator of the first few ... and is in need of a major revamp - perhaps Anco and Maxis could persuade Dini to get back together with Screech to produce the next version, maybe then we'd get a game befitting the name."

Killerball

Decent action sports game - futuristic and brutal, comparable with Speedball 2, although miles away from its quality and fun. Instead of a square playing field, Killerball plays in a round arena. It is ... futuristic sports games on the market. But with Bitmap Brothers' Speedball and Rainbow Arts' M.U.D.S. setting high standards, Killerball just can't compete. Fun for an hour or two, nothing more.

This is a strange little golf game, played with a side view, and holes resembling more the screens of platform games. Using Left and Right arrow keys, you must decide the power of the shot, and with Up ... simple, fun, and original gameplay, and crisp graphics (especially the colors), Kimaru! has a lot of fun to offer, especially if you like wacky sports games (Zany Golf comes to my mind). Lakers vs Celtics

Review 1: This is one great game. Maybe even the best basketball game until the first NBA Live! title came out back in 1995. And, fortunately, it is very hard. Usual goal is in front of You - pick a ... game implies - you can choose from more than that as you can play the entire Playoffs. The controls aren't bad, but somehow the game wasn't able to hook me. A nice choice for basketball-fans anyway.

Despite bearing the name of one of Germany's best players, the game's scope is not as large as the likes of Champion Manager; ... Lothar Matthäus is a decent beer-and-pretzel soccer simulation/action game that doesn't take itself too seriously. Good as a quick fix, but lacking in long-term play value to warrant repeated play.

Low Blow

Review 1: Low Blow is a fun boxing game by Synergistic Software. Game graphics are ok with big nice boxer sprites, even though the animations couldn't be described as being fluid. Fighting against computer ... are to bars at the bottom of the screen in which you can see how much you can hold up, but also how long you can punch the opponent, but be careful, with one punch you could be lying on the ground...

M.U.D.S.

Review 1: Mean Ugly Dirty Sports - that's the full name of this game. And it fits! Where else are your players allowed to beat up their opponents, get deepfreezed as a penalty, get eaten by sharks, swampmonsters ... match starts, the action is furious, the movement is fluid, and the controls are intuitive. In short, original sports games don't get any better than this-- a definite must have for any sports fan!

Mad Trax

Mad Trax is a decent space racing game that unfortunately brings little innovation to the crowded genre. Sharky Extreme's review explains quite well why this is merely an average game: "The idea ... Seeing as they are only a team of 6 and no doubt have been hard at work with this title, it is a very nice first try and with graphics like this... well, let's just say the future looks bright."

Magic Johnson's Basketball

Magic Johnson's Basketball is a decent arcade-style basketball game starring LA Lakers' superstar Magic Johnson, one of the most famous players of all time. Manchester United: Premier League Champions

One of the most underrated soccer games, MU:PLC is an excellent game that combines good strategic options with fun arcade-style top-down play similar to Sensible Soccer. As the title suggests, the game ... NOT choose Manchester United, whose players are semi-gods judging from their ratings G. If you like the game, also try Manchester United - The Double, the last and arguably best game in this series.

Manchester United: The Official Computer Game

One of the most obscure football (soccer) games ever made, Manchester United is the world's first PC game based on the famous British club of the same name. Masterblazer

Masterblazer is Rainbow Arts' follow-up to Lucasfilm's classic futuristic sports game Ballblazer from the early 80's (that was unfortunately never made for the PC). Besides the Ballblazer game mode there's ... make this a very worthy successor. Not a lot of tactics required, it's pure action fun. For the best game in the series, play the final release: Micro League Baseball 4.

Micro League Fantasy Manager: Baseball Edition

This is really not a game, but more of a utlity to create and manage a fantasy league and it's schedules. There was no option for game play , just a device to create fantasy leagues. If you really have a need for this kind of thing, all that I can say about it is that it's easy to use. Other wise it's not worth your time. I rate it a 2 out of 5.

This was the first sports game I played, and even though the keyboard controls were too sensitive and the graphics hard to see, it was still a ... also features a great feature that would later become one of Microsoft's hallmarks: comprehensive tutorial and on-line help. Co-operation with IBM, (un?)fortunately, didn't stand the test of time.

Microsoft Soccer

Microsoft Soccer is definitely one of the worst soccer games ever made - and one of the many first embarrassments for Microsoft when it tried to re-enter the gaming industry in mid 1990s. Games Domain ... recognize as the celebrated designer of Kick Off series. Given how bad the game is, it seems more likely that Microsoft Soccer was 'inspired' by his games without Dini having an active involvement.

Michel Futbol Master & Super Skills

This is a rare PC version including two excellent football (soccer to you Americans ;)) games for the Spectrum: Michel Futbol Master and Super Skills, both of which are sadly very little known outside ... and the games play very smoothly with reasonably realistic ball physics. Minigolf 1Shot

Minigolf 1 Shot is a great entry in Retro Remakes' One Switch Competition. It finished a respectable third from over 40 entries in the competition, and deservedly so. Like all other entries, the game can ... for each hole if you do well enough. Overall, this is a very well-designed freeware game that is a great example of how good games can be designed around the one-button concept. Highly recommended.

Minigolf Maniacs

An unfortunate casualty of when Sierra (or more accurately, Havas Interactive) shut down Dynamix in 2001, Minigolf Maniacs is a superb unreleased mini golf game that was 80% complete - less than a month ... the latest fanmade mod, Minigolf Maniacs is a very enjoyable and addictive wacky golf game that is best played on-line with a few friends, although the off-line games are fun too. This simple but fun miniature golf game features many courses with varying difficulty levels, intuitive controls, and many inventive obstacles. Definitely an above-par game.

Monday Night Football

Monday Night Football is a fun action-oriented football game from Data East that sports excellent VGA graphics, sounds (although they won't work in most new computers), and good controls. Fans of realistic football simulations are well advised to ignore Monday Night Football and play Tom Landry Strategy Football instead.

Moto Extreme

Moto Extreme is a so-so motocross game from Artech that pales beside Road Rash and Moto Racer, although admittedly Moto Extreme tries to be a different kind of game.
