Arkanoid

Review 1:

One of my favorite arcade games when I had my Amiga 500. The game is very simple as you just have to shoot a ball up on different blocks. Every time you hit one it dissapears and once you have removed all blocks you have completed the level.

You can get extra things such as 3 balls, laser, glue and much more from he letters that sometimes appear when you hit one of the blocks.

The more levels you complete the more complex and faster levels you get to. There are also some robots flying arround which you have to kill or at least avoid as they are trying to stop you from completing the level. All though they can be a bit annoying they do have a somewhat random movement area and are rarely getting all the way down to you before you have hit them. Overall a funny game which you can use mana hours on.

Review 2:

Arkanoid - the all-time classical bounce-back-game! Simple, ingenious concept - just bounce the ball back against the stone and they disappear. Sometimes a goodie comes falling down that makes your - well, how should I call it? I guess it should be some kind of spacecraft - anyway - it gets bigger, can shoot and some other thingsa depending on the color of the falling goody. Well well - this can really addict you for some hours and more and it's SO small...

Review 3:

One of the most famous games of this type, Arkanoid was first released on arcade machines by Taito, then transferred to PC's by Nova Logic. You know what to do right? Fire the ball into the blocks and make sure it doesn't fall down the screen. And keep doing that for hundreds of levels (or so).

Review 4:

A well-known game with lots of levels and much fun. You must hit the bricks with the ball, so that they disappear, but you must reflect the ball using the pad, wich you control. When all bricks are gone, you'll move on to the next level, wich is ussually harder and they may look a bit different. Also the speed can be turned up. It's worth playing!

The game is nice and fun to play, but it might run slow on your computer. You need to download a slowdown application, wich you download on one of the application pages.

Review 5:

Bats and balls.. bats and balls... Breakout involved trying to deflect a bouncing ball with a padel (while keeping it in play) so that it smashed into a wall of coloured bricks. Not only was it simplicity itself, it was also more addictive then covering yourself in peanut butter and thinking about nuns... yeah!

So anyway, Arkanoid is a demon hell-spawned clone of Breakout; a silly, silly plot (something about spaceships and "space walls"), more features, better graphics, about a quadrillion (it's a word!) times more addictive than the original! The biggest improvement is the addition of powerups that fall down the screen when you hit certain bricks. The *S* power up slows down the speed of the ball (sorry, energy bolt =P) so that you can take things a little easier, while the *L* powerup gives you a laser gun (COOL!)
